Provision of Liquidation & Distribution accounts to the Master within 6 months of registration of the estate.Currently the maximum Masters fee is R600 and this has been for longer than I can remember. Little doubt a small portion of the blame for delays can be placed with the Masters Offices. Most heirs would be happy to see this fee increased fairly substantially to give the Master’s Offices training and resource increased to improve the situation.The Masters office function is more important than R600.
Registration with the nearest Master’s offices is required within14 days in the case of estates with wills or with assets aboveR125,000. (Sections 7 to 9 of the Administration of Estates Act).Creditors Notices can easily be published within 14 days of receiving Letters of Executorship from the Master.Creditors’ Notice requirements1.Estate number, 2.Full names of the deceased, 3.date of birth, 4.identity number, 5.last address, 6.date of death; 7.surviving spouse's names, 8.surviving spouse's surname, 9.surviving spouse's date of birth 10.surviving spouse's identity number; 11.name and address of executor and authorised agent.There are few reasons for delaying posting the Creditors Notice once the Letters of Executorship have been issued by the Master.
